Mobile Banking with ABSA WAP 2.0 via Cell C
So what is WAP? WAP stands for Wireless Applications Protocol and is simply like having a small version of the internet on your handset. If you bank with ABSA, you can conduct mobile banking transactions on your cellphone using WAP 2.0
Requirements:
You must have a WAP 2.0 enabled handset, and the smartdata (GPRS or EDGE) settings must be loaded on your handset.
Method of Access:
You can access the ABSA wapsite from your handset in the following manner:
- Access the Juice Portal from your handset*
- Click on the Banking link
- Click on the Absa Bank link
- You will then be directed to the ABSA Mobile Banking wapsite where
you select "Logon" to logon and conduct your ABSA Mobile Banking
transactions using your existing account number and PIN [Personal
Identification Number] and select "Next"
- If you are a new user you can select "Register" and follow the quick and easy registration process.
For any Mobile Banking problems [such as you cannot conduct payments or cannot login to the ABSA wapsite] please refer to the ABSA Call Centre on 0860 111 123 (Monday - Sunday 8a.m - 10p.m)
Costs:
ABSA will not charge customers any fees for Mobile Banking until 30 September 2006. Cell C will charge customers for data transferred at the customer's applicable data rate (the standard GPRS/EDGE rate of two Rands [R2] per Megabyte of data transferred will apply for those customers without smartdata packages).
*If you have any problems connecting to the Juice Portal from your handset, follow these quick and easy steps:
- Enter the following address in your handset's WAP browser: http://www.cellc.co.za/wap
- This will bring up the Cell C Juice Portal.
- You can then continue with the steps mentioned above in "Method of Access".
**Terms and conditions apply.
