Mobile Banking with Nedbank WAP 2.0 via Cell C
So what is WAP? WAP stands for Wireless Applications Protocol and is simply like having a small version of the internet on your handset. If you bank with Nedbank, you can conduct mobile banking transactions on your cellphone using WAP 2.0
Requirements:
You must have a WAP 2.0 enabled handset, and the smartdata (GPRS or EDGE) settings must be loaded on your handset.
Method of Access:
You can access the Nedbank wapsite from your handset in the following manner:
- Access the Juice Portal from your handset*
- Click on the Banking link
- Click on the Nedbank link
- You will then be directed to the Nedbank Mobile Banking wapsite
where you can conduct your Nedbank Mobile Banking transactions
- You will need to register first and obtain a Digital Banking Profile by:
- Calling the Nedbank Contact Centre on 0860 115 060 or
- Visiting any Nedbank branch with your green Identity Document
For any Mobile Banking problems [such as you cannot conduct payments or cannot login to the Nedbank wapsite] please call the Nedbank Cellphone Banking number (0860 115 060).
Costs:
Nedbank will charge customers bank charges according to their business rules for Mobile Banking transactions. However, please note that these charges are less than those for transacting at a Nedbank branch. Cell C will charge customers for data transferred at the customer's applicable data rate (the standard GPRS/EDGE rate of two Rands [R2] per Megabyte of data transferred will apply for those customers without smartdata packages).
*If you have any problems connecting to the Juice Portal from your handset, follow these quick and easy steps:
- Enter the following address in your handset's WAP browser: http://www.cellc.co.za/wap
- This will bring up the Cell C Juice Portal.
- You can then continue with the steps mentioned above in "Method of Access".
