Mobile Banking with Standard Bank WAP 2.0 via Cell C
So what is WAP? WAP stands for Wireless Applications Protocol and is simply like having a small version of the internet on your handset. If you bank with Standard Bank, you can conduct mobile banking transactions on your cellphone using WAP 2.0
Requirements:
You must have a WAP 2.0 enabled handset, and the smartdata (GPRS or EDGE) settings must be loaded on your handset.
Method of Access:
You can access the Standard Bank Wapsite [Cellphone Internet Banking site] from your handset in the following manner:
- Access the Juice Portal from your handset*
- Click on the Banking link
- Click on the Standard Bank link
- You will then be directed to the Standard Bank Mobile Banking site.
Here you can check your account balances, get statements, pay
accounts, transfer funds between your accounts, and even purchase
prepaid airtime.
- You will first need to register for Standard Bank Cellphone Banking by:
- Calling the Standard Bank Customer Contact Centre on
0860 238 837

Costs:
Normal Standard Bank electronic banking charges will apply for Cellphone Banking transactions. (Balances, Mini-statements and Prepaid transactions are free.)
Cell C will charge customers for data transferred at the customer's applicable data rate (the standard GPRS/EDGE rate of two Rands [R2] per Megabyte of data transferred will apply for those customers without smartdata packages).
*If you have any problems connecting to the Juice Portal from your handset, follow these quick and easy steps:
- Enter the following address in your handset's WAP browser: http://www.cellc.co.za/wap
- This will bring up the Cell C Juice Portal.
- You can then continue with the steps mentioned above in "Method of Access".
