what is EDGE?
EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution) is a 3G technology that delivers broadband-like data speeds to mobile devices. It allows you to connect to the internet and send or receive data such as
images and web pages.
EDGE is three times faster than ordinary GSM / GPRS network and currently offers speeds up to 240kbps. As handset technology improves, EDGE speeds will increase to 480 kbps. Transfer speeds will
depend on radio conditions and network capacity.
To use EDGE you will need an EDGE capable handset. Once you have the right equipment with the GPRS setting, using EDGE is automatic. When you’re in an EDGE coverage area your handset will
automatically use EDGE and will use GPRS when EDGE is not available.
